2026-2027 Season: Player Registration Changes

Conversations between the leading national soccer organizations including US Club Soccer (of which our TCSL league is a member), US Youth Soccer and AYSO led to a consensus to return to an August 1-July 31 player registration window reversing a decision made by US Soccer back in 2017.

U9-U19 players are eligible for Fusion Soccer Club Tryouts

All Fusion Soccer Club Tryouts take place at Wayzata High School Turf or grass

ALL players must register for tryouts regardless of attendance

General Tryout FAQs

Understanding Tryouts

What do tryouts and team formation processes look like?

At tryouts, players will have the opportunity to play in both small-sided and larger sided games. Player evaluations will be based on the following criteria:

Technical - dribbling, passing, receiving, etc.

Tactical - decision-making, vision, movement off the ball, etc.

Physical - speed, agility, strength, etc.

Psychological - competitiveness, aggressiveness, team player, etc.

The team formation process is led by the Directors of Coaching, with input from Age Group Directors and team coaches. Player placements consider various factors, including attendance at practices and games, performance during the Fall and Summer seasons, winter training observations, and tryout results.

Important Tryout Info

All players must register for tryouts to be placed on a team for the 2026-2027 Season.  The season begins late August for non-high school players and begins early November for high school age players. The season ends in early-mid July 2027.

Team offers will be made shortly after the completion of tryouts.

As always, Fusion will adjust player movement, when appropriate, during the early months of winter training as players continue to grow and develop.

Players may be moved up (or in some cases down) prior to the start of the summer season if there’s a team with a better fit for their skill level.

All players should make every effort to attend tryouts, as no makeup sessions will be offered. Players must try out for their own birth year.

Team Notification & Commitment

After Tryouts, rosters are typically finalized within a week. Players will be notified via email with next steps to either accept or decline their roster spot. The notice will be sent to the main email entered in your Tryout registration. In order to accept a roster spot, the commitment fee must be paid in full, and a payment plan agreed to for the team fees for the season.

Please watch your email and be prepared to make a decision on your roster notification. Committing online and paying your commitment fee is what secures your roster spot.

Rosters are not final until all players have paid their appropriate commitment fee. Payment must be received within the stated time period in your team offer. After that time, the club may offer roster spots to other eligible players.
